Kecya Felix Donnelly (b. 1983, Belo Horizonte)
Kecya Felix is a multimedia artist born and raised in Brazil, and a resident of Mill Valley, California. She is the creator of ArtCura practices and spaces. Her work approaches the art of living and homemaking and how those subjects can lead to creative ways of living. Her art intersects insights and reflections upon container and essence.
Since 2008 Kecya has dedicated time for the development of inner skills, understanding body, and mind, phenomena, the ancestral wheel, and dharma - transposing all investigations to the process of art-making. Her current interest includes the interaction between body-mind, stillness-movement, space-sound and all phenomena of nature which creates form or sensation.
Starting her work in Rio de Janeiro, in 2010, she blended performance with an exploration of the symbolism of women's garments and it's interaction with the body. Kecya's first exhibition, Stone Dolls (2010), was curated by the art mentor, Ricardo Becker, and was presented at The School of Visual Arts Parque Lage, in Rio de Janeiro. Stone Dolls introduced Kecya's first encounter and dialogue with the female condition in the contemporary world, as she veil and unveil the body under layers of memory.
From this, she began to nurture an idea of a house art-residence in São Paulo, with the first open house, Mirror Me We: The Look of Love (2014), curated by Paulo Klein. This was followed by a new beginning in San Francisco with House as a Mirror (2015), where she explored the house as a laboratory to the practice of mindfulness of the body. House as a Mirror has grown into a lab with Artcura practices, called Embryo Lab (2016) where she invited a cross-cultural team of female to collaborate for six months creating Embryo. Between the public and the private, the house became a space dedicated to foster community and to develop a close relationship between people, life and art.
